An Introduction

I figured that to start this blog , this site off is to provide an introduction. An introduction of myself, a bit of my background and what I would hope to accomplish with this blog.

Hello and welcome! My name is Jeff and I live in Canadian province of Saskatchewan, the land of “Living Skies.” I love working with wood, designing and creating projects.

Some Background

Quite honestly, I was introduced to woodworking back in Jr. High school when they offered an Industrial Arts class. The class went through all steps from start to finish on a project. Conceiving the project, designing and drafting, transfering the idea from the page to a piece of wood and finishing the project off. It was quite inspiring. That was back in 1990!

Since then, it seemed, life had a different plan for me. When I went to high school, I didn’t take any shop classes. Instead my interests moved more towards the art of television broadcasting. I ended up getting involved with the tv club in high school, learning all I could in what it takes to produce, shoot and edit shows for broadcast.

After high school, I ended up working for the local cable company in the community programming department creating shows from around the community to be aired on the local community channel. I did this for 6 years when I decided I needed a change and took the training to become a cable technician. A job a currently do to this day!

Rekindling love of woodworking

I guess it was really back in 2015, I stumbled on some YouTube videos on making wood signs using a router. Thats when it hit me! I can do that! So off to the garage I went, found my router and bits and a chunk of wood and I began routing this chunk of stock. It really didn’t amount to anything amazing or even recognizable but it was the start, or reboot, of my love of woodworking. Since then, most of the pieces I’ve made have been for family and friends. Just seeing their smiles when they look at my projects brings enough joy to me to keep on going.

The Blog

What is my idea for this blog? Simply, I want to be able to document my work and share with others. I want to be able to pass on knowledge on what I have learned and learn from others. I think it’s important, as a community, to share stories and experiences. It’s a way we all learn…. from each other!

As time goes on, I expect that the blog and the site will evolve into something that many will find valuable for information and ideas!
